A bit about me!

Hello there! I'm Latera, your friendly data enthusiast from Ethiopia, the land famed not just for its ancient wonders but for its magical beans too. Yes, while we might sometimes find our own smiles in short supply, we take pride in exporting joy one coffee bean at a time. Each cup you savor is like a cheerful "Good morning!" from Ethiopia, helping you shake off the blanket's embrace and face the world with a little more pep in your step. Coming from Ethiopia, the challenges of growing up in a place where hardship is often a given are stories I'll let your imagination fill in!
My academic escapade began at Addis Ababa University, where I explored the enchanting world of Computer and Electrical Engineering. Picture a less-glamorous and poorer version of Tony Stark.

2020, I found myself in the fascinating realm of public health at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute. There, I joined a band of data analysts – think of us as a less dramatic, more data-driven version of the Avengers. P.S, despite my corny marvel references, I've had my fill of Marvel movies. First, Ant-Man can time travel, which destroys the logic of the entire franchise. Second, they just keep adding parallel universes, it seems they're out of new ideas and just prolonging "milking the same cow", or whatever the saying is. #Money-grabbers

Fast forward to 2022, I embarked on my master's journey at the University of Washington. Now, as I tiptoe into the world of PhD, I am motivated in decoding the mysteries of public health one dataset at a time.

So here I am, your average person in the world of data science, on a mission to sprinkle a bit of light-heartedness into the serious business of health research. My focus? Newborn and Child Health. Because let's face it, what's more rewarding than helping the littlest among us get the best start in life?

In short, I'm just another curious soul trying to make a small dent in the world, armed with data, humor (I've been told by some), and a perpetual sense of wonder. Join me on this quirky quest, where every day is a new learning adventure!
